Iranian Forces State Strike on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Regional Counterattacks.
Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched missile attacks throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a large-scale and continuing attack against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone close to the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any impact is not yet known and the US has not commented.
Airspace Engagements
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - all home to American military installations - stated they have shot down incoming projectiles in their airspace.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was striking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on the Islamic Republic carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That US-Israeli operation - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on areas associated with the the regime, with President Trump calling on the people of Iran to rise up against the leadership.
Regional Fallout
In Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israeli military reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE stated that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the projectiles with great effectiveness and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," it added.
It said missile fragments fell on a neighborhood in the capital, resulting in some material damage and killing a civilian.
The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
